15.2 th..Post…Thumb Print Matches

I have extracted this portion of the thumb print located 15.1 Post. Haven done this I am able to enlarge the extrract and describe how I managed to identify the print with that portion located in my painting. I drew a broken arrow and pointed it to the two indents that I previously referred to a foot prints in the sand. Looking close at these indents one can even see where there is a small connecting bridge at the top and bottom.

I further placed three arrows pointed at three different whorls that are adjacent to the indents.

When I first noticed these whorls they looked like donuts (maybe I was just hungry). At that time, I didn’t see the importance. However, I was later researching fingerprinting and discovered that these donuts are actually known as whorls in the fingerprint field.

This knowledge caused me to examine more closely the thumbprint in my painting. Not that I hadn’t been examining it closely but at this time I did so with different eyes. I had previously noted the two indents in the thumbprint located at the edge of my painting.

Although earlier I was concentrating on the alinement of the ridges from both prints. That was hard. Yet it led me to discovering the whorls. It seems a lot easier for a reader to grasp the whorls than the ridges although I have even matched some ridges while matching the whorls.

There is a wealth of information to learn in the fingerprint field. However, I just scanned for general information in one small area. It did the job.
