In the Christian religion the Apostles (from the Greek ἀπόστολος ‘sent’) are the men chosen by Jesus to be with him and sent them to preach. The term apostle has become, by extension, a term used to identify the propagation of a doctrine or belief, religious, and even individuals who spread social and political ideas.

The Twelve Apostles

According to the New Testament , the final twelve apostles were those who did not abandon Jesus when they indicated that they should eat his flesh and drinking his blood for eternal life ( John 6:25-70 ).
